USA Tutorial

In this tutorial I am going to explain the way I play USA
USA can be played in many funs ways. This civilization is good at booming and expanding. It is also very good at securing vision on the map which can be a huge advantage in team games.

Federal State

Age II

Pennsylvania is the federal state to get to Age II.

You get a free church shipment and 3 technologies in the church.
A gold trickle, skirmishers and light cavalry that cost food.

The other shipment is a native embassy and alliance with the Cree natives.
You can make Cree Courier des Bois as well as use the Cree technologies that reduce the cost of wagons from the Capitol building.

Usually I send the church shipment first.

Age III

Age III you choose Kentucky.
You get 2 fast gathering gold mines and a shipment that sends skirmishers for every other shipment you have sent in the game.

You can use this fast gold to start making gatling guns.

You can also go for Indiana for a free Age-up but it can be very slow.

Age IV

Age IV you choose California.
You get an extra Town center, a shipment that sends 5000 gold mine and makes your settlers auto-generate for free.
You get a "soft revolution" shipment that turns your settlers into Californios - a dragoon type unit.

Age V

In age V you choose New York.
It improves mercenary units.

You can go for Texas if you build forts but they can be a bit slow. Especially if you are under pressure. You can include some of the shipments that let you build "special" cavalry from Forts.

You can go for Florida if your main force is cavalry.

You can go Connecticut for faster Heavy Canon production but keep in mind that if you lose your factories you would lose 3 shipments worth of value. So you need to protect them well which can be challenging if the opponent is sniping them with Oprichnik or some other fast siege unit.

The Deck

This is the deck. You can change it a little. You can put the gatling gun improvement card if you are running gatling guns or the cards that improve carabine cavalry and hussars if you are going for cavalry

Age I
1. Chinese immigrants (Usually I build a native post as soon as possible so that I can send the wagon as soon as possible when there are many trade routes on the map)
2. Exotic Hardwoods
3. French Immigrants

Age II
1. Philadelphia convention (Usually I build a second church)
2. Tammany Festival (Usually I make 1 more native embasy so that I can build the CDB faster)
3. Spice Trade (This card synergize with Cree CDB and Team Louisiana Purchase)
4. Virginia General Assembly (The free technology I choose is Oregon Trail I pay for Statehood while Aging up)
5. Medicine (I send it while Aging up)

Age III
1. Kentucky Coalfields
2. Team Louisiana Purchase

Age IV
1. California Gold Rush
2. Factory wagon
3. Factory wagon
4. Poker

In Age II you can also build 3 saloons and send the Highlanders card for extra protection against rush.
If you have the shipments. If they push you hard make some natives, levy minutemen or send the armies from the church.
The rest of the shipments you send as needed.

Army Composition

At the start your army will be mainly natives, the skirmisher shipment and the carabine cavalry from the church. In Age III you can start making gatling guns and carabine cavalry to protect them from hand cavalry and culverins. You can also make some skirmishers if the opponent has many dragoons and infantry. In Age IV you can switch to Heavy Horse guns since they have better damage, health and train time with the shipment. You can train whatever mercenary is good to counter the opponent and send poker to increase the mercenaries you can chose from.

Economy

You try to get as many trading posts and native settlements on the map. This is fairly easy with chinese immigrants shipments unless your team is also going for trade posts. Every trade post and native settlement will increase the number of Highlanders in Age II.

Use Statehood technology from the Capitol to quickly get to Age III or Age IV.

In Age III use the State Capitol to quickly build Town Centers and make villagers.
Also make some outposts if you have spare wood since having vision on the map is preferable.

After you get to Age IV you should have 5 Town Centers that produce free villagers.

After you run out of gold mines or hunts you can build 1-2 Mills to have enough food for Native Warriors and the rest of the villagers can go on Estates.

Conclusion

USA is a versatile civilization that can quickly expand and make artillery.
It can be hard to stop once it gets going.
Oh and also use the Inspiring flag. I usually forget to use it but it boosts auto-production of Forts with Texas.
